Q: What do I need to renew my driver’s
licence?
A: You must have two valid pieces of
identification to renew your licence. Some examples
of valid identification are: birth certificate,
passport, MasterCard or Visa, Alberta Health Care
Card, SIN card, or a bank statement or utility bill
containing your name and address. Please be
advised: there are certain people who will be
required to obtain a medical before their licence
may be renewed. If you are in any doubt and have
not received your renewal notice, please feel free
to contact our office for help.

Q: What do I need to renew my registration?
A: You require valid insurance for the
vehicle in question and your driver’s licence.

Q: If I have overdue fines can I still use
registry services?
A: No. You must pay off all fines (parking
tickets, speeding tickets, photo radar, etc.) before
you will be permitted to commence any registry
services. You may pay your tickets at the
courthouse, or at our office. Please be advised
that if you choose to pay at our office, we charge a
$9.45 service charge per ticket.

Q: What does my child need to take a
Learner’s Test?
A: If the child is under the age of 18, a
parent or legal guardian must accompany him/her.
The child must be a minimum of 14 years of age, and
must present one piece of identification such as an
Alberta ID card, a birth certificate, or a passport,
or citizenship or permanent resident card.

Q: I’m getting married…….what do I need?
A: Both persons must be present with valid
ID. Divorce papers are required if either party has
ever been divorced. The applicants must also have
knowledge of their own birthplace, and parental
information (the maiden name of each mother and
birthplaces of both parents).

Q: How do I register a vehicle from the
U.S.?
A: An out-of-province inspection must be
completed before registration. You must obtain a
form from a registry office. You must provide the
serial number of the vehicle in question in order to
complete the form. After completion of the
inspection you must return the inspection form with
Form 1 of the import form that was provided at the
border along with proof of ownership and valid
insurance.

Q: I just had a child, how do I obtain a
birth certificate?
A: You must come in to the office and fill
out an Alberta Birth Certificate form. If you are
the parent of the child in question, you must know
your spouse or co-parent’s birth place and date of
birth.

Q: How do I book a road test?
A: In order to book a road test you must
first come in and purchase a test permit. Once the
permit is bought, we will contact our driver to
schedule a test time.

Q: Do I need to have insurance to register a
trailer?
A: No. You only need to show proof of
ownership or a certificate of origin
